Living in Switzerland

After 10 years of living and working in Switzerland with 3 kids under 11 years old, the Expax Insider report 2021 fully represents my perception of this country:This beautiful land ranks #2 in natural environment (only after New Zealand) and we are taking good advantage of skiing in the winter and biking in the summer. This is the place to experience the safety you want for your kids, and I feel blessed we're going through a pandemic in such a healthy economic environment with more work opportunities than the average country in Europe. The truth is that there is a cost of living here, not only economical (most expensive country in the world after Hong Kong), but also a cost of socializing. As foreigners we missed having more social interaction, and as an extrovert myself, this was frustrating for years. But not anymore as I've learned the importance of mutual respect and adaptability. I'm doing my best with the language and following all the written and unwritten rules, an important matter here.I also understand that we are part of a consensual culture where the decision making process might take long but the implementation is fast and often highly efficient. If you work and negotiate with Swiss,be patient and trust the results!I have only one good Swiss friend but his family are the most open-minded and friendly people I have ever met.The Swiss are honest and direct and I’m a proud mom when I see some of their values in my kids, even though the pressure of not being 1 minute late not even to a BDay party, is sometimes a bit too much for me. 😱
